Retrocalcaneal Exostosis / Pump Bump

This refers to the formation of a bony prominence at the back of the heel bone called the calcaneus which causes pain, tenderness, and difficulty wearing shoes.  Shoes with stiff backs such as dress shoes and pumps press at the back of the heel and are a major cause for the development of these painful bumps.
